But I'm such a good person!
John 3:4 Nicodemus saith unto him, How can a man be born when he is old? can he enter the second time into his mother's womb, and be born?
John 3:5 Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God.
There you have it folks. Turns out being a nice, law abiding citizen is not enough.
A tough pill for many to swallow I'm sure, as we all, at times, like to think we do enough, say enough and that we ARE enough. We are less than I assure you.
In these moments, as the world of flesh was attempting to comprehend spirit, we see very plainly that the Lord does not live in the flesh, only sin does. He is spirit and through His mercy and grace, Jesus, are we united or reunited, in spirit with Him.
Romans 8:9 But ye are not in the flesh, but in the Spirit, if so be that the Spirit of God dwell in you. Now if any man have not the Spirit of Christ, he is none of his.
8:10 And if Christ be in you, the body is dead because of sin; but the Spirit is life because of righteousness.
Our flesh must die in every way daily, in order for our spirits to lead, for our relationship with our Father to grow.
Simply “being a good person" is not the standard by which The Spirit is pruning His children.
We must see, only when we are born again in the Spirit, given to us in Jesus, are we alive, are we free and are we useful to He that made us.
No more pretending our weak, tired and selfish flesh can hold the bar in the eyes of the Lord. We are not “good enough”, that my friends is reserved for He that is good, alone.
John 6:63 It is the spirit that quickeneth; the flesh profiteth nothing: the words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life.
Amen. I pray we all strive to be more for God than “good enough". Put down the flesh and you will find His Spirit and you will be reborn!
Blessings!!
