And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters…
Genesis 1:2
The Bible assures us that God is spirit. He can and does manifest in as many ways as is needed but one thing remains. He is spirit. He is energy. And He is only good.
We seek for Him in His word, through prayer, church and multitudes of other ways but how do we actually find Him?
We can know every word of the Bible and we can pray from dawn to dusk, we can spend countless hours attending church and surrounding ourselves with the like minded...
Of course all of these actions are of good intent, done in an effort and with a desire to connect with our Father.
We have to wonder though, how do we connect with something spiritually and are we able to do that with where we are in our walk right now?
Or do we even have a clue what or where our spirits are…
Proverbs 20:27
The spirit of man is the candle of the LORD, searching all the inward parts of the belly.
Spirit in Hebrew, means breathe and air. It is the part of us that is not only energy but is alive with or without the body. It is the light with which we connect with the LORD, our compass if you will. It is that voice that guides us from a place much deeper than our minds or bodies can reach.
We are spiritual beings with physical abilities. Our connection to other humans even stems from our spiritual nature first, followed by our minds and bodies.
Unfortunately, we often choose to place our physical beings at the forefront and this silences our spirit. Like scripture says in Matthew 6:24; no man can serve two masters.
We cannot connect and be with the LORD spiritually, as we are to be, if we are living in our flesh, silencing our spirits.
Proverbs 25:28
He that hath no rule over his own spirit is like a city that is broken down, and without walls.
The Lord comes to us in spirit always, even in the flesh of Jesus, He is the spirit of the Lord. He calls to us throughout scripture to understand of and to reside in spirit, this is where we came from and where we will return to upon leaving this place.
Ecclesiastes 12:7
Then shall the dust return to the earth as it was: and the spirit shall return unto God who gave it.
He made the spirit within us to grant us the opportunity to be with Him eternally. We must choose to do that of course, by following His commandments as well as by walking with Him in spirit. If we live ignorant of our spiritual and feed our flesh alone, we will lose the only gift that gives us life…
Romans 8:16
The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God:
1 Corinthians
6:16 What? know ye not that he which is joined to an harlot is one body? for two, saith he, shall be one flesh.
6:17 But he that is joined unto the Lord is one spirit.
That still, small voice. That force of energy that calls us to move, that whisper of comfort when we are at the end of our rope. These moments, and countless others, are the love of His Spirit speaking to ours, connecting with us.
We will never truly know the place from which these moments come from or how very, very special they are without acknowledging; He is Spirit. We are spirit. This is how He knows us and is able to use us to further His beautiful plan.
Psalm 31:5
Into thine hand I commit my spirit: thou hast redeemed me, O LORD God of truth.
Wake up. Silence your flesh and He will awaken your spirit! We cannot exist in a spiritual reality without living in spirit here first.
And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters…
Let Him move upon you.
God bless xo
